Dakota knew that he needed a college degree to pursue his dreams to work with computers or go into politics. But he didn’t know how he could get there—until one of his teachers helped him fill out his application for a federal Pell Grant.

In his State of the Union address, President Obama issued a challenge to schools and states: keep good teachers on the job and keep students in school until they graduate or turn 18. The President also demanded Congress take action to keep college affordable for middle-class families.
