Editor's note: Over the next ten days, we'll be looking at 10 reasons to re-elect President Obama. Here's the first installment:

Pride 10

President Obama has fought for equal rights for LGBT Americans. From announcing his personal support for same-sex marriage to ending "Don't Ask, Don’t Tell."

We can be proud of President Obama’s record on civil rights for LGBT Americans. He knows that we all do better when we all do better, and as long as people are discriminated against because of who they love, we still have work to do.

That’s why he’s the first sitting president to support marriage equality and why he repealed “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” As he said at the time, “We are not a nation that says don't ask don’t tell, we’re a nation that says out of many we are one.”

His equality agenda has been comprehensive these past four years. Because of Barack Obama, the federal government now extends key benefits to same-sex partners of its employees. He also signed the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act into law and called on the justice department to no longer defend the Defense of Marriage Act in court.

Equal rights for LGBT Americans is just one reason to vote for Barack Obama and give him four more years to continue fighting for all Americans. Stay tuned for nine more important reasons.
