How can I get involved in my community?

People from all 50 states with different backgrounds and skill sets will work to form Organizing for Action local organizations to support President Obama and fight for the issues we care about. What has President Obama done?

For information on the President’s record—including accomplishments regarding jobs and the economy, education, energy and the environment, equal rights, health care, and national security—take a look at the issues section of our website.

Will OFA be involved in elections, supporting candidates who share a commitment to these policies?

No. Neither OFA nor its chapters will be involved in any way in elections or partisan political activity. Its exclusive purpose is public policy advocacy and development, and in particular, both enactment of President Obama's legislative agenda and the identification and advancement of other goals for progressive change at the state and local level.

Will OFA lobby for these changes?

No. OFA will not directly lobby elected officials on behalf of the policies it supports, nor will it hire lobbyists to do so. It is an advocacy organization that will promote these programs throughout the nation and will mobilize citizens to speak out for their adoption and implementation.

Is OFA affiliated in any way with the federal or any other government, or funded with taxpayer dollars?

No. OFA is a private tax-exempt organization. Its Board members and staff are all private citizens, and all funding is provided by voluntary donations from members of the general public. It will not receive or seek any public funding.

Does President Obama support the establishment and activities of OFA?

OFA is advocating for the agenda that President Obama has presented to the nation, and as an organization dedicated to this purpose, OFA has been grateful for the expression of support for its work by the President, Vice President and First Lady. Although it was privately established and will be privately operated, without government funding, OFA will work hard to retain the support and confidence of the President by effectively advocating for his Administration's core agenda. It also looks forward to working with other civic organizations that are similarly committed to the successful enactment of this agenda.

Do the organizations working closely with or in alliance with OFA include the Democratic Party?

No. OFA is not a partisan political organization and will not engage in electoral activity with any partisan political organization. It welcomes Democrats, Republicans, and Independents to support its work, and its advocacy will be directed to all Americans, without regard to party or other political affiliations.

What is the relationship of OFA and Obama for America?

Obama for America was the re-election committee of the President while OFA is a nonprofit nonpartisan organization not involved in electoral activity. The organizations are separate and established for different purposes. Organizing for Action will draw in part on the network, technology and volunteers that distinguished the President's successful re-election effort, but only for its purposes of issue advocacy and mobilization of citizens in support of the President's legislative agenda. OFA will lease and buy assets from Obama for America as the re-election committee retires its debt and prepares to terminate.

Will OFA accept financial support from any source and without any limit on the size of donations?

OFA will not accept donations from corporations, currently registered federal lobbyists or foreign agents, political action committees, or foreign nationals, including foreign governments or foreign political parties. It will welcome support from all other supporters of its work. As a nonprofit organization organized for this social welfare purpose, it may accept donations of any size from those eligible to give.

Will OFA publicly disclose its finances?

Yes. While not required by law to report its finances, OFA will make full and regular disclosures over the course of the year of donations received.

Where will these financial disclosures be made?

Does Organizing for Action accept contributions via PayPal?

Organizing for Action does not currently accept contributions via PayPal. But there are a lot of other ways you can give—please see the “How can I donate?” section above.

How do I set up a recurring donation?

Monthly donors are a core group of supporters who sustain Organizing for Action’s work by signing up to make automatic contributions every month. To start making automatic monthly contributions, visit our donate page and check the box marked “Make this a monthly recurring donation.”

How can I modify my recurring donation?

How can I unsubscribe from Organizing for Action emails?

We’d hate to see you go, but if you’d like to unsubscribe from our email list you can do so by visiting our unsubscribe form and entering your email address. If you receive Organizing for Action emails to more than one email address, you will need to fill out the form for each email address you would like to unsubscribe from our list.

How can I change the email address where I receive Organizing for Action emails?

If you have a account, you can change your email address by logging in to your account and then clicking on your name in the top right-hand corner of the website to visit our “manage your account” menu. Make sure you identify the new email address you input as your primary account and check “unsubscribe” under your old email address if you no longer wish to receive emails at that address.

Where can I see how many people have RSVP’d to my events? Where can I find events that I have RSVP’d to?

You can manage all aspects of events here. You must be logged in to your account to view information about your events.

I forgot my account password. What should I do?

You can reset your password here.

Enter the email address associated with your account and click “Reset password.” If you receive an error message, you have likely entered an email address that is not associated with an account. If there’s a chance you registered with a different email address, try entering that one in the “Forgot Password?” form. If you have correctly reset your password, you will receive an email from to the email address associated with the account with a new password to use.

I have an issue with user-created groups and group listservs. Whom do I contact?
