The Campaign in California

Election Day is 10 days away. What we do between now and November 6th will determine the course of America’s future. As Californians, we have a pivotal role in this election.

Here is a look at the actions you can take to help make sure that President Obama is re-elected.

Vote. Election Day is November 6, but early voting is already taking place in California. Don’t wait – cast your vote by mail ballot today. The deadline to request a vote by mail ballot in California is Tuesday, October 30. California is not the only state with early voting, so make sure your friends in other states vote early too.

California represents 55 electoral votes, but our goal is 270. Each one of us needs to play an active role in making sure that other states get out the vote (GOTV) for President Obama. There are lots of ways that you can have an impact.

Travel to Nevada. We’re now booking California volunteers to help out in our neighboring battleground state for the crucial GOTV stretch leading up to Election Day. We’re traveling to Las Vegas and Reno to talk to voters about what’s at stake in this election. Each volunteer on the ground brings us closer to victory in November, and you could be a leader that helps us win the Silver State.

Attend a GOTV phone bank. Every day, volunteers all across California are calling into battleground states and having conversations with voters. The calls we make are crucial to ensuring that states like Nevada and Colorado get out the vote for President Obama. Each event will be packed with supporters, and experienced volunteers will be on hand to assist you in making the calls that matter. Every conversation counts, so join a California phone bank this week and sign up for a shift during the final days of GOTV from Nov. 3-6.

Volunteer for the Victory Counsel. As a result of recently enacted voter ID laws and voting misinformation, we’re deploying a legion of lawyers, law students and paralegals called “Victory Counsel.” Victory Counsel members observe polling places across the country to guarantee an environment free of intimidation and misrepresentation. By becoming a member of the Victory Counsel you will help ensure that every registered voter who wants to vote has the opportunity to vote.
